So what does a bride do after the wedding ?
In 2012 fellow motor racing drivers Jennifer Scott and Oliver Sirrell married in the VIP lounge overlooking the track at Brands Hatch. I DJ’d their wedding at the venue which overlooks the Jack Brabham straight.
The wedding was one of our highlights of 2012, after all its not every day you get to DJ whist watching live motor sport beneath you at world famous sporting venue.
Brands has been a somewhat pivotal part of the couples lives. In the early days of their relationship Jennifer actually wrote off Oli’s car at the circuit …it can’t of gone down too well with Oli who at the time was a talented driver hoping to break into Formula One, but it ultimately appeared to be a positive move that cemented their relationship.
On the day of their wedding the couple actually took time out before the first dance to take a trip back to Graham Hill bend where it all began, to get some extra wedding photos together. The venue continues to play a huge part in their relationship.
Jen comes from a racing background, her dad Malcolm, 59 who gave her away on her wedding day is also a motor racing driver and still regularly participates in races with his daughter, over the years Jen has gone from knowing nothing about a car to being able to identify and fix problems 20 minutes before a race.
Her ongoing career is made even more challenging these days as the couple have since added to the family, nine month old daughter Harriet.
I was chatting to Jen, now 31 following her 3rd place finish at Brands today, she said “If I thought about my daughter whilst competing then I probably wouldn’t be able to keep racing, when you get in the car nothing else can matter except total concentration or you end up making mistakes. I still get a huge adreneline rush from the sport and I absolutely love Brands”.

Jen following her 3rd place finish
Jen’s podium finish proves she remains as focused as ever and it will be interesting to see how her career evolves over the coming years, supported by Oli who was by her side throughout the weekend to give support, advice and tend to their daughter back at the paddock.
In the meantime to add to the workload Jen & Oli have also knocked down their house and are planning a rebuild which Oli is hoping to be completed by Christmas 2015.
Theres no half measures, its all going on in the Sirrell household.
