The room that is used to stage the wedding works really well and is a very nice size accommodating over 100 for the sit down meal and over 150 in the evening. There is a nice fireplace at one end of the room which looks great when the top table is set up in front of it, the bar is at the opposite end of the room and serves drinks from the moment guests arrive back from the church and there is a really nice balcony overlooking the course which can be used throughout the day. A couple of other nice features inside the room are the exposed wood beams which can be highlighted with some uplighters, dedicated parquet dance floor area and buffet serving area which is built into the room so theres no buffet tables to set up later on.

Mauritian music goes down a storm

Just recently I’ve started setting up a surround sound system as it provides the highest possible quality sound onto the dance floor, surround sound really enables the dancing guests to absorb the music on the floor leaving elder guests away from the floor able to talk. For this wedding we were also providing background music during the meal, The couple chose movie themes as the music backdrop with the wedding breakfast kicking off to an amazing opening as the new bride and groom walked in to the trumpets of the Rocky soundtrack, a really great moment that was captured by our videographer colleague Paul Taberham of Gold Band Films.

This wedding also saw a large contingent of overseas guests as a result of the grooms roots, so part of the agenda in the evening was to accommodate Mauritian (Sega) music into the set. Sometimes clients have concerns about doing this but anyone reading this who is planning on something similar please be rest assured this always works really well and Saturday was no exception. Again there is a video to follow showing the Sega music and the guests in full swing, in fact a lot of the English guests also got involved and to be honest this always seems to happen. Personally I think its great to incorporate everyone’s tastes into the equasion, it breaks up the evening and ensures everyone is happy.

A lively 45 min set of Sega was followed by the buffet at around 930 but the floor never cleared and it was straight through to the end of the night incorporating all of the couples favourite music into the set which mainly consisted of Indie and a few older tracks which the brides dad clearly enjoyed …in fact never have a I seen such a proud man on his daughters wedding day, the smile never left his face all day long. One thing I wont forget in a hurry at this one was an almost lifesized cardboard cut out of the groom which was passed around the dance floor towards the end of the night. Our first visit to Westerham Golf Club was certainly a memorable one for a clearly very popular couple and all the best to them both for the future.
