Last night we were a stones throw from the Tottenham training ground in Cheshunt for the wedding of Helen and Neil Mackenzie at Theobalds Park in Hertfordshire.
We arrived at Theobalds Park at 430 just as guests were making their way through for the meal, which was taking place in the Mansion House. Theobalds Park is one of the De Vere chain and just a short drive from the M25 so very accessible and easy to find with the wedding taking place in the Mansion House.
Any DJ’s reading this be advised that you can pull right up to the door of the function room which is separate from the room where the meal is. This is great because you can get there with plenty of time to spare and once you enter the room set up is just inside the door (see photo).
Theobalds Park include a basic mahogany dancefloor (approx 16x16ft), which is great to save a few £££s, however if you wanted to upgrade to a starlit floor they are detailed in our brochure.
We opted for a plinth set up at this wedding as it tied in better with the surroundings, the room would also be perfect for uplighting, you could probably get away with just 6 or 8 for a very good effect.
A couple of other good points about this room is that the curtains are blackout which is great for summer weddings and there is no sound limiter in the room, the bar however is in a separate room.
There had been some rain at Theobalds Park during the afternoon so following the daytime formalities the photographer made the most of the remaining daylight to grab the final few group shots before we went into the cake cut and first dance around 830pm.
One of groom Neil’s loves is fireworks, in his spare time he is a volunteer firer so at 10pm he had booked a sound to light display out on the terrace. Despite all the weddings when I have seen fireworks this was the first time I have seen them choreographed to music and I have to say it was without a doubt the best display I have seen to date. Check out the video below that I took of the display by Alchemy Fireworks, the whole thing was brilliant but I particularly loved the firework syncing to the Madness track which was brilliant.
On a night that ended with a high energy Rock section all that remains is to wish the newlyweds a great honeymoon in Fiji and to say thank you for inviting us to be a part of your excellent wedding day.
