Pippa & Gary take the first dance
Pippa & Gary celebrated their wedding last Saturday at the George Vaults, Rochester, Kent in what turned out to be yet another massive highlight this year.
The couple who live in Hampshire returned to Gary’s hometown for the wedding which was all staged in the stunning vault function room. Pippa & Gary included Creative Mood Lighting as part of the service to highlight the stunning archways and finished it off with a scrolling name projection onto one of the walls which provided the perfect backdrop for the first dance. The room was also adorned with various Halloween themed props and balloons.
11pm-midnight was 90s Ibiza Classics hour
Pippa & Gary were more into their Indie, Rock and Glam Rock with Gary being a particular fan of Metal, so a lot of their pre selected music was based around these genres with some 80’s and latest charts thrown in for good measure, however 11-12pm saw the music dominated by an unexpected swing into classic 90’s Ibiza courtesy of some cracking guest requests.
With the gig finishing at 12, some last ditch negotiations with the venue and myself resulted in a much needed 2 hour extension and we picked up where we left off in the 90’s, the music then reverted to Rock and 80’s, even a bit of Metallica and Iron Maiden crept in at the end for Gary !
A Metal moment for Gary
The George Vaults is a bar in Rochester High Street that serves food and has a late lounge also, from the photos on this review you can see that the vault function room is oozing in huge character. I didn’t ask but I would imagine you could make a substantial saving over one of the more commercial wedding venues due to the vaults high street location, but don’t let that put you off for one moment, it works fantastically well. You get married in the vault which has to be a seriously atmospheric experience, the guests then eat in the vault only leaving to accommodate the room turnaround and disco install which doesn’t take very long, even with creative mood lighting and name projection it was only about an hour. During this time the guests happily moved upstairs to the ‘late lounge’ suite. The vault itself is by no means the smallest room we have played in, the dj booth area is in the corner but our adaptable booth fitted in there perfectly, we installed some floor standing moving lights to counteract the lack of space to install overhead lighting. This was our first run out with a new speaker system which you can read on our Disco Heaven blog but from this experience the acoustics are great amongst all the stone and brickwork.
George Vaults Archways
It’s got a bit of a gothic feel I guess, the ceilings are not too low and there are a couple of stunning archways in the middle of the room which we uplit using red creative mood lighting, the length of the room is around 40ft approx with the bar located at the end of the vault keeping everything nice and close knit for the evening reception.
bar located at the end of the vault
This was the second time I have played at the vaults and it’s definately one of my favourite places, the staff were great and keen to please, the guests loved it and judging by some of the comments they loved the food too. It was another one of those nights where everything just flowed excellently …so if your looking for something a bit different amongst the hustle and bustle of a high street rich in character and atmosphere …this could just be the place for you !

DJ Phil played at our wedding in October and we couldn’t have asked for more. Phil kept the floor packed all night, responded to our eclectic taste in music and played a perfect set for us and our guests. Throughout the process Phil was responsive to all our suggestions and made many of his own which helped to make it the great night it was. Phil was also very flexible at the end of the evening when we wanted to extend the set. Thank you Phil! Pippa and Gary Wright.
