Package: Total Music Package
Hannah & David’s wedding at Quex Park in Birchington, Kent proved to be a fantastic festival of music and variety.
The tail end of Hurricane Bertha ensured the day got off to a very wet and windy start, the drive down the M2 was made even more interesting by the sight of some bird flying backwards across the motorway.
The unpredictable nature continued throughout the day with periods of sun, warmth, rain, wind, sun, more rain and so on …it was one of those days when it couldnt make its mind up but as the skies cleared later on this was also the night of the supermoon, when the moon is 14% larger than usual.
We arrived at the venue early afternoon to supply background music during the meal and a microphone for speeches. Hannah & David had provided around 15 specific songs to be played during the meal, we took care of the rest of the time by putting together a funk and soul selection from the 60s and 70s.
Set up at Quex Park is in the corner at the far end of the room. Theres not a huge amount of space but everything fits in quite neatly with our booth, across the back of the room are the fire exits and on the other side is where tonights band SKAbretta were setting up.
The band had been at the Folkestone Ska festival in the afternoon and arrived during room turnaround, they played Hannah & Davids first dance followed by two accomplished one hour sets which had the party rocking by the time I came on at 930pm.
The rest of the evening was an ecclectic mix of indie, rock, rap, charts, r&b and finished with drum and bass before the last two songs by The Beatles and Oasis. The last couple of hours went down a storm with the bride and groom hoisted up by the crowd as the night ended on a huge high as you can see from the video below.
A hugely enjoyable day in the company of some lovely people, a great band …even the gorgeous resident cat at Quex Park. A real ecclectic mix of music, something for everyone.
