A wedding with a difference this week as we returned to The Elvetham for our second wedding at this venue …and like the first one earlier this year it was another great night and a venue we really like.
The evening disco takes place in a small room seperate to the meal, I guess if you are viewing it during the daytime or as a blank canvas then its hard to visualize what it could be like, but there are some really good opportunities to transform it. On our visits here we have installed uplighters to compliment the blank walls, paintings and the lovely fireplace that is in the room, we also install a water effect light in the room which is very effective onto the paneled ceiling. Once the rig and disco lighting is set up it all comes together very nicely.
Although the bar is in a seperate room there is an adjoining door guests can still remain close to the action when they are recharging their glasses. The handy thing from a clients point of view is that because it is a seperate room from the meal you don’t need to have the early set up as we will do that whilst the meal is taking place and then there’s a nice smooth transition as guests enter the revamped room following the end of the daytime formalities.
Tonight there was no first dance which is I think the first time I’ve started a wedding set without one, so rather than have that natural start to the party its almost like a corporate or birthday event where you start from scratch and build up a set of music around the guests tastes.
No need to worry about getting this party started, it took off straight away once we set about our work playing some latest charts, dance and r&b for the younger crowd, but it wasn’t long before the requests were piling in for the 80’s and then the older Rock and Motown tunes. Everyone of all ages was involved throughout amongst this very enthusiastic and animated crowd with the absolute highlight of the evening being the set between 10-12 when the floor was packed solid for a 90’s Indie section which went down very well with the majority of the crowd including bride Nina.
At 1130 with everything going excellently the newleyweds decided to extend the night until 1am so we stayed on and did our bit eventually finishing around 115 as the party carried on at the bar and other areas.
Congratulations to Nina and Nicholas and all the best for the future, we are off next weekend for a short break then back in action for back to back birthdays at the end of the month before kicking off the Christmas wedding season, I can’t believe once again how quickly this year has flown by.
