Our first gig this weekend was a local corporate affair at Commissioners House within Chathams Historic Dockyard, on the guest list were a number of local companies making up the 130 strong guest list.
The evening got under way shortly after 7pm with the guests arriving to a drinks reception before making their way to the marquee for the buffet. The marquee is also used to stage weddings at this venue and we had previously piped background music into this part of the venue for wedding breakfast background music. The main room for the disco is a white painted room, it ‘s actually quite a bright room even with the lights off so to add some atmosphere I installed 6 uplighters and colour coordinated the booth blue so the room had a very cool look to it, we were unable to use haze for lighting effects due to the venues restrictions.

With it being a mixed bag of age ranges and tastes we catered for everyone at some point and took numerous requests throughout the evening, I’m not sure I remember Gangnam Style being requested so many times but as a rule we normally avoid playing the same song more than once unless its several hours apart. So throughout this very lively evening we covered the latest charts, 90s dance, xmas tunes and some rock as requested by Naomi who was doubling up on her celebrations by staging her hen do that evening. We finished up a couple of minutes after midnight and sent everyone home on a high with “Call me maybe” which had been requested several times in the previous hour. As far as the venue is concerned, it’s a good local venue for staging pretty much any type of celebration, if your getting married then you will benefit from some great outdoor shots with all the history of the dockyard available as a backdrop. The bar is located very closely adjacent to the disco room, parking is nice and easy directly opposite the venue and all the staff were all very friendly and helpful …a highly successful evening down by the river, straight forward for DJ’s and recommended venue hire whatever the occasion.
