Following last nights lively affair in Tenterden we moved onto wedding number 4 of the week at Top Meadow Golf Club in Upminster. Michelle & Lee had married the previous week in Portugal and this was the homecoming party to celebrate their marriage on English soil …and on a lovely sunny day the golf club was the perfect setting for the newleyweds to party with friends and family.

The day got off to an interesting start when the Choice Entertainment navigator temporarily took leave of her senses and decided to put Michelle and Lee’s postcode into the satnav instead of the venue, fortunately we always allow for delays (usually traffic related tbh) so after a skirting around Romford during the rush hour we arrived at the venue with still 2 hours to get ready for the evening.

The function room is on the first floor, it’s accessable by a single flight of stairs but there’s also a lift which can be used for disabled guests and to transport equipment. Once you get into the room set up is at the far end, you could certainly describe it as a room with a view, it’s a picturesque setting in the heart of the Essex despite only being 5 minutes from the M25.

I would highly advise anyone booking this venue to have a dance floor installed (16x16ft should do you fine in there). There is a small tiled grey floor at the far end of the room but it is quite small and butted up against the patio doors not leaving any room for DJ’s to set up in a central position so for this one we installed the arch over the patio doors and set up the booth to the side. Other than that it’s a lovely modern room with pillared walls which would look fantastic if you chose to use uplighters, the acoustics of the room are good and bar is situated at the entrance end of the room which is great.

With evening guests arriving at 730 and with the buffet due out at 830 Michelle and Lee’s preference was to meet and greet with background music and for guests to enjoy the barbeque laid on by the venue before the disco started. After the food guests piled straight onto the floor to kick off the party and just before 10pm as darkness fell outside the arch and lighting began to take effect Michelle & Lee took their first dance in England as a married couple, the floor was packed for the rest of the evening with Garage, R&B and the latest tunes on Michelle’s list before the bride asked us to play a set of tunes for the older guests before finishing off with more of Michelles requests including the couples sons favourite song “Gold Dust” which I saved till last.

So another successful evening and a full dance floor throughout …and thanks to the staff for their helping us get everything out of the room nice and quickly enabling us to get a quick getaway and start preparing for tomorrow nights joint 50th for Tim & Ann at Old Wilsonians Cricket Club in Bromley …finally congratulations to Michelle and Lee, wishing you all the best for the future.
