Sunday saw our third night of the weekend and our first visit to Northcote House, a De Vere owned venue situated within Sunningdale Park at Ascot in Berkshire. This wedding was something a bit different, a spicy wedding with a real international flavour as we covered traditional music from Albania & Greece, warm up music from Turkey and a playlist containing Latest Charts, Party Classics and Brazilian tracks.

We arrived at Sunningdale Park around 530pm and made our way round to Northcote House where we quickly met up with Carlos who was the duty manager for this wedding. Access is nice and easy as you park up right outside the grade II listed Neo-Georgian mansion, restored to its original splendour and surrounded by 65 acres of picturesque Berkshire countryside.

It’s an exceptional venue and from all the major venues I have visited over the past few years I have to say that this is my absolute favourite in Berkshire, the magnificent architecture of the hallway where the disco assembles is stunning with its impressive staircase and gallery floor overlooking the hallway, the domed ceiling and stone arches are absolutely spectacular.

It’s a real privilege to be able to work and play music at venues like this and as far as the acoustics are concerned the hallway is second to none. My EV sound system sounded exceptional ….it was a joy to hear it in these surroundings and Northcote House is without a doubt THE BEST sounding venue I have ever visited thanks to its size, shape, carpet, stone walls and domed ceiling. Kristin had booked quite a lot of uplighting for this wedding, during the day the hallway was illuminated with 12 sage green uplighters, I then added an additional 6 pink uplighters around the fireplace and surrounding wall for the disco. For any DJ’s reading this that there are no sound limiters in the room nor are there any restrictions on using haze effects, the staff are fantastic and go about their work while you are left to get on and focus on the party.

With the Albanian flag suspended over the hallway from the gallery the evening got off to a great start with several traditional Albanian songs following the first dance, this was a wedding with a huge amount of variety and conscious of catering for a number of different cultures Kristin decided to schedule the music so that two Albanian or Greek songs were played following every three songs from her general playlist which also included some general party music and Brazilian beats, this was to ensure that everyone was included throughout the evening which was a great idea as it would of been impossible to play a 3.5 hour set of music without leaving people out.

Kristen supplied all the international music across 3 CD’s (they appear as Track 1,2,3 etc on the playlist detailed below), although they had to be spread out a little more than every 3 tracks as there wasn’t enough on the disc to play every 3 songs.

For this venue we used two uplit plinths alongside the booth which looked great in front of the uplit fireplace and wall, we also used our new LED pixel tubes inside the booth which can be seen on the video showing some of the different colours achievable with that particular set up, I opted not to use the arch on this occasion as I didn’t want to draw attention away from the lovely fireplace and general architecture of the environment.

It’s always interesting and great to experience other cultures and was the perfect end to the weekend, a wedding with a real difference and great to meet and chat with some of the overseas guests and trust they enjoyed their visit to England …and all the best to Kristin & Jon for the future.

We have a much needed 5 day break now as we prepare to move into our new office this week, we are back next week with our SoundProof package at High Rocks in Tunbridge Wells for Mel & Chris’s long anticipated big day. It’s going to be a 16 hour day for us starting at 10am for the bridal prep photography …then we continue with the photographs throughout the ceremony, group shots, speeches then throughout the evening until the end. On the music side we are doing the ceremony songs, background music during the meal, uplighters and then disco finishing at 2am. After midnight Chris is looking for a nightclub feel with House and Drum & Bass so we will be taking along an extra couple of subs for this wedding 🙂
