Our 18 hour day began around 10am when we left Rochester for Holland on Sea for our first visit to the Legacy Kingscliffe Hotel in Clacton for Sarah & Warrens wedding.
For this marathon day we were providing all the music for the day including the Civil Ceremony, background music during the drinks reception and meal, as well as installing 10 uplighters set to cadbury purple in the main function room, then during room turnaround installing the PA and booth for the disco not to mention a 16×16 white starlit dance floor !! phew
I have to say that the room used for the wedding breakfasts and disco’s at the Kingscliffe Hotel is one of the nicest contemporary rooms I’ve come across in quite a while. I’ve done all the major hotels throughout the south east and this is right up there for ambience, the acoustics were very very good for the evening disco with our EV and Pioneer speaker system and the lovely white walls bring out the colours of the uplighters beautifully. The dance floor was the finishing touch and I think you can clearly see from the main photo on this page that the room looked stunning.
If your a Dj visiting the venue then the access is pretty good, you can park at the back of building and make a short walk through the rear garden straight through the door to where the set up point is, there is no sound limiter and I was able to use haze in small doses for lighting effects without any problem at all. I found all the staff very helpful and keen to please and the whole day went flawlessly. I can even mention that their CCTV system is second to none, during the build up to the Civil Ceremony I managed to ‘misplace’ my iPhone, what I had neglected to remember was that I had in fact put it in my pocket and switched it to airport mode in advance of the ceremony, after a couple of minutes reviewing the CCTV I was convicted as the culprit and sheepishly continued with my duties.
Together with 80s girl Sarah I put together a great list of 80s Essex Soul Classics for the evening which didn’t disappoint the home crowd, nor did the fantastic portion of fish and chips provided by the venue for the meal, big thumbs up to the local fisherman who caught the cod, they were absolute monsters !
Sarah and Warrens whirlwind romance started less than 2 years ago, in fact the first dance this evening to Etta James ‘At Last’ was rumoured to be the couples first ever time together on a dance floor, but it all added to the romance and the bridesmaids were right on cue to ensure the newlyweds wernt alone throughout the 3minute duration.
Following an excellent evening and very long day we were packed up ready to make the journey home getting back around 330am to grab a few hours sleep before going back out on the road down to Rhinefield House, Hampshire.
If you were at the wedding how about leaving us a comment at the bottom of the page and tell us about your experience at Sarah & Warrens special day, all the very best to the newlyweds from CHOICE Dj for a very happy future together.
