The first of our back to back castle weddings got underway on Friday afternoon at Farnham Castle in Surrey for Kayleigh and James big day.

With the World Cup underway last night and very balmy weather we made our way over to Surrey for our first visit to this venue.

We set up the booth with two uplit plinths complete with moving heads, water effect light and two vertical haze machines. Uplighters were set up purple

Farnham Castle first built in 1138 was home of the Bishops of Winchester for over 800 years, it is considered to be one of the most important buildings in the south due to the reflection of its changing architecture over the era’s. It’s rich heritage make it a stunning Castle venue, but with a contemporary feel.

farnham castle wedding dj discoKayleigh and James had originally booked Burford Bridge Hotel last year, but flooding affected the venue and the resulting restoration work is not due to be completed until September 2014 so the couple switched venues to keep their wedding plans on track after their 5 year engagement.

The Great Hall is a lovely size and bright space thanks to the large windows, I would guess can accommodate up to around 200 guests, it has a very nice gallery overlooking the room which would be great for photos, large traditional fireplace, very high ceiling and a contemporary bar offering an elevated view of the environment.

10353098_10154209890505063_6813676051959109257_nThe venue also boasts 32 bedrooms for overnight accommodation giving it pretty much everything you need to keep everything under one roof for the big day.

For DJs and Bands visiting the venue, access is quite straight forward. You can park up in the courtyard and the point of entry down just a couple of steps (mind your head on the stone arch) and your virtually straight into the room. There is no sound limiter, the high ceilings mean you won’t have any problems with haze if used sensibly.

There is no dedicated dance floor installed at the venue so you could add a real touch of class by adding one of our starlit dance floor upgrades.

We really enjoyed our first visit to Farnham Castle and wish Kayleigh, James (and their little man) all the best for the future. No immediate honeymoon is planned but we hope you have a great one when the opportunity arises.

Tomorrow we are at Westenhanger Castle in Kent and The Gallivant Hotel in Camber Sands which are both SoundProof Packages.
